Option 1
Fighting blight in our communities takes all of us working together and with code enforcement officials. Here are the five most commonly reported code violations:
- Fences and walls in need of repair
- Dead vegetation and overgrown grass and weeds
- Abandoned or inoperative vehicles on the property
- Debris, trash, or illegal dumping
- Illegally parked vehicles (RV’s, trailers, etc.)
Keep your yard clean and free of trash. Make sure your home is in good repair and if you see a problem, report it to the TCVCOG. Visit the TCVCOG website for more information.
Option 2
Code enforcement ensures our homes are built and maintained safely. Building codes make sure homes can handle strong winds and heavy snow and that electrical wiring is done correctly to prevent fires. Code enforcement also helps keep our community healthy. Rules about keeping yards clean prevent pests like rats and mosquitoes, which can spread diseases. Proper plumbing codes ensure we have clean water to drink and use. When everyone follows the rules, our neighborhoods are safer and healthier. TCVCOG code enforcement officers work throughout our borough, you may see their silver cars driving around your neighborhood. TCVCOG code enforcement officers check properties that might have blight. If they find a problem, they let the property owner know and give them time to fix it. If the problem isn’t fixed, the officer can give fines or take other actions.
- What Can You Do?
- Keep your yard clean and free of trash.

Option 3
Let’s talk about something very important for our community: code enforcement. You might have heard this term before, but what does it really mean? Code enforcement ensures that everyone follows the rules about building and maintaining homes and properties, and we’re proud to partner with the Turtle Creek Valley Council of Governments (TCVCOG) to help keep our community safe, healthy, and looking good. You may have recently seen a code enforcement car in your neighborhood. Those official vehicles and the officers driving them are helping to fight blight in our communities. Working together, we can make our neighborhood safe, healthy, and beautiful. Code enforcement isn’t about punishing people; it’s about keeping everyone safe and making our community a great place to live.

Closing Company / Owner Transfer Guidelines
As a reminder, an Occupancy Permit is required for any transfer of ownership of property and/or tenant change per unit. A fully completed application with a fee must be remitted prior to inspection. If violations are found, a second application and fee for a reinspection is necessary. If you are unable to complete your occupancy application online, please visit the Code Enforcement page. You may download, fill out, and send this form directly to code@tcvcog.com. Occupancy Permits are issued only to properties without violations to the Borough Code. If violations are noted, please correct violations and schedule a follow-up inspection. Life safety violations or Act 90-related violations will prevent an Occupancy Permit from being issued. Visit the TCVCOG website for more information.
